My Robot Choice – Samson Dubina

Ever since I started playing table tennis, I have had a great experience using a Newgy Robo-Pong table tennis robot.  At age 15, my friend gave me a very old Newgy robot.  I improved my footwork, consistency, and ball placement using this easy-to-use-machine.

In 2009, Newgy invented the Robo-Pong 2050 digital table tennis robot.  This state-of-the-art robot is fully equipped with 64 pre-programmed drills that are available at the click of a button.  With this convenience, it is very easy to find time for a short training session in the basement.  For more of a challenge, I can use the normal mode to customize my own drills with speed variation, placement variation, and wait time variation.  Playing with the robot is no longer monotonous.  It is challenging, even for a top table tennis player.

In addition to shooting 170 balls/minute to 21 oscillation positions and 30 speed settings, the robot can instantly convert all the drills for a left-handed player.  So my lefty friends can enjoy the same drills reversed to fit their style.  The best part about the Robo-Pong 2050 is that I can use PC mode to save my drills using a simple interface.  I can run those drills directly from my PC or I can save them on my controller for later use.  I have personally written 300 drills for the robot and enjoy thinking of new drills and creative ways to take my game to the next level.

Here are some of the drills that I personally use in my daily training program:
