Just a Few Reasons Why I Love My Robo-Pong by Michael Landers

Without many high-caliber table tennis players to practice with on a regular basis, I count on my Newgy Robo-Pong 2050 table tennis robot to keep me in shape and provide a great training.

A great thing about the Robo-Pong 2050 is that it can be programmed to do almost any drill you want. I also love the recycling net. I can practice my serves as much as I want without having to pick up the thousands of balls from the floor. The drill I’ve been using most recently is setting the robot to heavy underspin and having it shoot balls at me that just barely come over the edge of the table, also known as a half-long ball. This drill is vital for any top player because in a match, especially when it’s tight, players’ serves tend to creep long and are vulnerable to attack. At a high level, if you don’t take the first chance you have to attack the ball, you’ll most likely be pulverized.

By twisting the robot’s head, I can have it produce heavy side-underspin balls and side-topspin balls. This is great practice.
